Minor Procedures

Minor Surgery and Injections

Minor surgery includes simple procedures and treatments performed at the surgery rather than in a hospital.

Having these done at the practice can be quicker and more convenient than waiting for a hospital visit.

Services we offer include:

Joint and steroid injections: to help reduce pain and swelling
Cryotherapy: using cold treatment to freeze and remove certain skin blemishes or warts

Steroid Injections

Steroid injections are not available at all GP practices, but we are pleased to offer them at Orchid House Surgery.

Only specially trained doctors can give these injections. Because demand is high, appointments are booked from a waiting list.

If your symptoms get worse while waiting: Please send an online request using SystmConnect on our website so a doctor can review your condition.

How to Request a Steroid Injection

Contact the Surgery:
- If you think a steroid injection could help you, submit an online SystmConnect request on our website to ask for a GP consultation.
Join the Waiting List:
- If the doctor decides a steroid injection is right for you, they will place your name on our waiting list.
Read Your Information Leaflet:
- While you wait, we will send you an information leaflet to your home explaining the treatment and what to expect.
Book Your Appointment:
- Our admin team will contact you directly by phone or text to book your appointment as soon as a slot becomes available.
Arrange Follow-Up Injections:
- Injections must be at least 1 month apart.
- If you need injections in more than one joint or area, you will stay on our waiting list, and we will contact you to book your next visit.
